In Memory of Mildred Gilman

We give thanks for the life of Mildred Gilman, who died quietly in Lexington, Massachusetts on Monday, August 8, 2011. She was a beloved member of University Lutheran for more than 60 years. We pray God's comfort for her sons, Edward Gilman and Peter Gilman; for their families; and for all who mourn.     UniLu has lost another one of the "great generation". I think of them as "ur-members" of UniLu. Certainly, the Horn family strongly linked UniLu with the Gilmans. Martin and Millie welcomed a passel of Horns to their house in 1953 when we arrived in Cambridge. I remember Millie's laugh as being quite spectacular. During one particular period of Horn/Gilman interaction, she was dubbed "Millie, the lovable Gilman" (after Millie, the lovable Monster).

    She will be missed.
